The main purpose of SPP is to successfully re-integrate mothers and children back in to their communities as independent and successful family units. This is why our Literacy and Livelihood training programmes are so important. SPP also links in to local community ‘elites’ and officials as well as giving the mothers training in legal literacy and their rights. Community support linking in to local NGO’s and services is also very important.

Practical issues are also addressed during the re-integration process- extra money management training and setting up bank accounts on the mother’s mobile phones, a discharge kit of community necessities etc.

Follow up is provided by our Social Workers visiting and via their mobile phones. The first measure of success is that the children are attending school regularly and doing well.
